Mr. Ahmed Rushdy M. Ibrahim

Ahmed Rushdy is a seasoned sustainability expert and economist with over 20 years of experience driving impactful change in the financial sector. As Advisor to the Chairman for Sustainable Development at the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) of Egypt, he leads the FRA’s sustainability agenda, fostering a robust and sustainable financial system. He also serves as Executive Director of the Regional Center for Sustainable Finance (RCSF).

Ahmed is widely recognized for his pivotal role in establishing Egypt’s Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM), a landmark initiative announced during COP 27 to solidify Egypt’s position as a regional hub for African carbon credits. His deep expertise spans ESG principles, sustainable finance, carbon markets, and risk management, making him a sought-after advisor for organizations transitioning towards responsible and sustainable practices.

With a PhD in Economics (in progress) from Cairo University, Ahmed brings strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of financial market dynamics to his work. He has held various leadership positions at the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), where he developed and implemented innovative solutions for risk management, sustainability reporting, and index development, including the EGX70, EGX100, and S&P/EGX ESG indices.
