Wilberforce Machimbidzofa is the Chief Executive Officer of WAICA Reinsurance Zimbabwe (Private) Limited since April 2019. A holder of a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and an Executive MBA from the East and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI), he is a career reinsurer with over 30 years of experience in underwriting as well as reinsurance broking.
Wilberforce started his career as a trainee with the then Zimbabwe Reinsurance Corporation, rising to the position of General Manager Technical before joining Aon Re as an Executive Director for Operations. He then moved to Mauritius to join Reinsurance Solutions International, a leading Reinsurance Broker, before joining WAICA Re Zimbabwe as Managing Director/CEO.
He has extensive experience working in many African markets and has been active in West Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa which is his current responsibility. In recognition of his contribution in the Zimbabwean business space, Wilberforce was recently given an award in the Gold category by the Zimbabwe CEOs Network and is a nominee for CEO of the Year award 2024 by the same organization.
