Tawuya has over 17 years of Asset Management experience, in various roles and capacities, having worked his way up from Junior Quantitative Analyst in 2008 to Chief Investment Officer in 2019, a position he held until 2021.
He also served 4 years as the Head of Wealth Management; putting to good use the Portfolio Management as well as Business Development experience he gained over time at Banks, Boutique Asset Managers and Stockbrokers in various asset classes across the continent.
He is currently the Old Mutual Africa Regions (OMAR) Business Partner in the Asset Management business where is involved in multiple regions across the continent in listed and unlisted investments implemented via multiple asset types in both the retail and institutional spaces. This entails incorporating digital implementation strategies to increase the accessibility of products and services in those countries where Old Mutual is present. Sustainability, or Impact Investing, is a key driver OMAR’s Alternative/Unlisted Investments ambitions.
Tawuya holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mathematical Statistics from Rhodes University, a Certificate in Business Management from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter-holder.
