Mr. Ruan Bestbier is a distinguished visionary in the realm of sustainable finance and ESG integration. He holds an MSc in Agricultural Economics and Econometrics from the University of Stellenbosch, complemented by an MBA awarded with distinction from the Stellenbosch Business School.
Mr. Bestbier has been instrumental in launching several groundbreaking initiatives, including the pioneering of Namibia’s first Green and Sustainability Bonds, which are listed on the Namibian Stock Exchange. He was also pivotal in securing membership for the Nasdaq Sustainable Bond Network. Currently, he serves as the Group Head of Sustainability at the Capricorn Group, where he integrates ESG principles into corporate strategy and product innovation through his tailor-made Sustainability Integration Programme.
Additionally, Mr. Bestbier contributes his expertise as the deputy chairman of Namibia’s Sustainable Development Advisory Council, an influential body spearheaded by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism. His leadership in these roles underscores his commitment to advancing sustainable practices and policies within the financial sector and beyond.
